I fear the cult of personality, who is sexy, who raised the most money candidate will prevail. Bought and sold to us by your main stream media. If that is all the race has become why not change it? Turn the presidential elections into an American Idol type reality tv series. Have the process take place over the course of an entire season. Negotiate/Designate multiple networks could each have an open political affiliation and showcase their candidates over the course of a TV Season. Have a "Super bowl" type of event where one unaffiliated network would host the finale with each affiliated networks candidate represented. Use the call in voting system they have for idol. This way whatever buff and polished figurehead could be chosen by the people.
